Our lab specializes in pharmacological approaches targeting the serotonergic system for cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. We investigate how serotonin regulates blood–brain barrier permeability and amyloid-beta clearance, aiming to develop innovative therapeutic strategies. In parallel, we investigate the potential of the intranasal route as a targeted drug delivery strategy to the central nervous system.

The team also develops advanced analytical methods for the detection of new psychoactive compounds, including serotonergic synthetic cathinones and related hallucinogens.

In addition, our research leverages artificial intelligence and real-world data to better characterize adverse effects of psychotropic drugs as antidepressant-induced sleep and orexigenic effects. By identifying the compounds at highest risk and the underlying pharmacological determinants, these approaches contribute to a more personalized use of psychotropic medications.

Research areas: Serotonergic system ; Cardiovascular ; Neurodegenerative diseases & Real-world data.
