Like the epitome of originality that I am, I did the Biology Bachelor after failing PACES two times, then the Neuroscience Master (Cellular and Integrative) and now I am entering my first year of PhD. - What you're currently doing:
So far, mostly paperwork! However, the plan for my PhD will be to assess the analgesic effect of the Botulinum Toxin, also more known as Botox with behavioural and electrophysiological studies. And if that doesn’t work maybe I can reorient in plastic surgery! - What brought you to do that:
I never really knew what I truly enjoyed during the first year of Bachelor, I was mostly cruising and enjoying the university life, and then the first course of Neuroscience in L2 was really the first time I got completely invested in something academic-wise. That’s when I knew I wanted to work in neuroscience, without having a specific idea in mind. After that, as most people I think, you just take the opportunity that you have, and try a bit of everything. For me, I applied to a summer internship in a lab that led me to learn a particular electrophysiology technique in a team I immediately liked and I’ve been hooked ever since ;) Similarly, the toxin project wasn’t necessarily part of my plan at the beginning of the master degree, and here I am! - What you'd like to do after that:
Right now, I prefer to think short term, considering so much can happen during the PhD haha! I’d like to try my hand in the academic field and maybe do a year of “monitorat” during the PhD. After that, as I’ve done before, I’m keeping my options open and will see what opportunities I can find, or which one will present themselves. - What brought you to invest yourself in Doctoneuro:
I’ve always been invested in student association ever since the first year of my Bachelor, and I can’t imagine myself without being part of one yet (ask me next year and maybe the answer will change :p). Then, as an Excel sheets enthusiast, the obvious choice for me was the Treasury pole! - What are your projects/objectives for Doctoneuro:
I think Doctoneuro has an enormous potential that we are trying everyday to use in order to create not only a scientific but also a friendly network in the neuroscientific field. Like ideas or discoveries, people left on their own cannot thrive, and Doctoneuro aims to get people together in their shared passion for neuroscience. Therefore, the goal of the year is to not only perpetuate the currents projects in terms of scientific vulgarization and cohesion events, but to spread them to the english speaking community in Strasbourg, and conversely to keep innovating with our projects and events. - Final words?
“Science was meant to be hard. Afterall, what was science but a bunch of bored human beings trying to challenge themselves when faith became too easy.” – Joseph Fink. There will always be ups and downs, but always keep your passion for neuroscience in your mind and in your heart!

Je n’avais jamais trop su ce qui me plaisait vraiment en 1ère année de licence, en gros j’errais et j’appréciais la vie universitaire, et puis c’est pendant le premier cours de neuroscience en L2 que je me suis senti complètement à fond sur un sujet au niveau académique. C’est à ce moment-là que j’ai su que je voulais travailler dans le domaine des neurosciences, même si je n’avais pas d’idée précise en tête. Après, comme la plupart des gens je pense, on prend les opportunités qu’on a, et on touche un peu à tout avant de se lancer dans un sujet. Pour moi, j’ai postulé à un stage en été où j’ai appris une technique particulière d’électrophysiologie dans une équipe qui m’a tout de suite plu, et je suis restée depuis ! Pareillement, le projet des toxines n’était pas nécessairement dans mes plans à la base, et me voilà aujourd’hui ! - Ce que tu veux/penses faire après :
Pour le moment, je préfère me concentrer sur l’immédiat parce que beaucoup de chose peuvent arriver pendant 3 ans de thèse haha ! Je pense que j’aimerais essayer le monitorat et l’enseignement l’année prochaine. Quant à après, comme je l’ai toujours fait, je garde la porte ouverte aux opportunités que je peux saisir, ou qui se présenteront à moi. - Ce qui t’a amené à t’investir dans Doctoneuro :
J’ai toujours été investie dans les associations étudiantes depuis la première année de licence, je n’arrive pas à imaginer la vie sans (mais demande moi l’année prochaine et peut-être que la réponse changera :p). Ensuite, en tant que passionnée des tableaux Excel, le pôle trésorerie était le choix évident ! - Tes projets/objectifs dans Doctoneuro :
Je pense que Doctoneuro à un énorme potentiel que nous essayons d’utiliser tous les jours pour créer un réseau de neurosciences non seulement scientifique mais également amical. Tout comme les idées ou les découvertes, les gens seuls ne peuvent pas s’épanouir, et avec Doctoneuro nous visons à rassembler les gens qui partagent une même passion pour les neurosciences. Ainsi, le but de cette année est non seulement de faire perdurer les projet existant, au niveau de la vulgarisation scientifique ou des évènements de cohésion, mais également d’étendre ceci à la communauté Anglophone strasbourgeoise, et de continuer d’innover sur nos projets et évènements. - Le mot de la fin :
« La science est censée être dure. Après tout, qu’est-ce que la science sinon un groupe d’humains qui se sont mis un défi quand la foi est devenue trop facile. » Joseph Fink. Il y aura toujours des hauts et des bas, mais gardez toujours votre passion pour les neurosciences en tête, et dans votre cœur !
